SATURDAY, MAY 3RD
ILLINOIS CITY, IL

1904- It was the last year there were no paved roads in Illinois. All the roads were narrow, curvy and made of dirt, rock, or bricks. The 1904 course very much resembles this pre-paved era. Come venture back in time with us. This will be the second stop of the Big River Gravel Series, and provide the hardest routes we have had to date. Unless you have been training consistently, we highly recommend doing the 43 mile distance. Riders must acknowledge the difficulty of this event and plan accordingly. There is no sag wagon coming to save you so if you think you could need rescued, bring a friend. The last 9 miles of both distances have around 800 feet of elevation gain. One of the climbs you're almost guaranteed to walk.

Mississippi Distance

Riders competing in the Mississippi distance will have 7 hours to finish the route and this will be no small task. If you make the time cut, you'll be rewarded with a sticker that can only be earned. The route will be around 83 miles with approximately 5,000 feet of elevation. There will be two farm road sectors which could easily derail your day. If we get rain, you might want to think twice about those road shoes. There will be two options for refueling for this distance. The first is a Casey's 25 miles in that is directly on course. The second will be an aid station at mile 61. The aid station will be stocked with water, gels, bars, and bananas.

Rock Distance

Riders competing in the Rock distance will have 6 hours to finish. The route will be around 43 miles with 3,000 feet of elevation. There will be no farm road sectors on this route, but make no mistake, this will still be a challenging ride. There will be an aid station at mile 20. The aid station will be stocked with water, gels, bars, and bananas.

Every participant will get a slice of Casey's pizza and a beverage of their choice included with their registration.
